Green Knights Escape With Win Over Titans
Jarrett Lieder and Josiah Vandenberg were both involved in three winning performances during UW-Oshkosh's 110-90 loss to the St. Norbert College men's swimming & diving team on Saturday (Jan. 11) in Albee Hall.
Lieder claimed his individual victories by swimming to times of 4:54.40 in the 500- and 17:17.06 in the 1,650-yard freestyle races. He also helped Vandenberg, Jack Miller and Andrew Park produce a first-place time of 3:22.19 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Vandenberg earned his individual wins with times of 2:06.53 in the 200-yard butterfly and 4:35.55 in the 400-yard individual medley.
UW-Oshkosh also won the 400-yard medley relay as the group of David Bain, Cody Else, Alex Jernberg and Matt Holst combined for a time of 4:04.15.
Finishing second for the Titans were Jernberg in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.97, Miller in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:47.57 and Park in the 100-yard freestyle at 51.64 seconds.
UW-Oshkosh's third-place finishes featured times of 2:14.15 in the 200-yard backstroke and 4:58.13 in the 400-yard individual medley from Bain. The Titans also had Jernberg and Park finish third with their times of 17:50.98 in the 1,650-yard freestyle and 1:53.48 in the 200-yard freestyle, respectively.
The Titans had a pair of fourth-place listing as Else went 18:07.01 in the 1,650-yard freestyle and Miller 53.34 in the 100-yard freestyle.
St. Norbert College won seven of the meet's 13 events.
UW-Oshkosh competes at UW-La Crosse next Saturday (Jan. 18).
