Titans Win Nine Of 13 Events To Sink Vikings

UW-Oshkosh won nine of 13 events, including a pair by both Jarrett Lieder and Matt Wilke, in defeating the Lawrence University men's swimming & diving team, 123-95, on Saturday (Jan. 4) in Appleton.

Lieder swam to victories in the 50- and 500-yard freestyles with times of 22.28 seconds and 4:55.69, respectively, while helping Jack Miller, Andrew Park and Josiah Vandenberg win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.86.

Wilke swept both diving competitions by totaling 316.60 points off the 1-meter board and 340.65 off the 3-meter plank.

Miller also placed first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.56 seconds and second in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:47.94 while Vandenberg finished first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:07.49 and second in the 100-yard butterfly at 56.24 seconds.

Park contributed a pair of third-place swims with his times of 1:06.97 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 1:54.14 in the 200-yard freestyle. 

Other event winners for the Titans were David Bain and Alex Jernberg. Bain won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.83 seconds and finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:20.05. Jernberg won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:42.52 and placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:05.50.

Titans Zack Baas and Cody Else added a pair of top-four results. Baas finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.98 seconds and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:13.07 while Else placed second in the 1,000- and third in the 500-yard freestyles with times of 10:59.06 and 5:24.46, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining fourth-place finish was Jarod Falk's performance of 1:01.82 in the 100-yard freestyle.

Next Saturday (Jan. 11), UW-Oshkosh will host Beloit and St. Norbert colleges in Albee Hall.
