Titans Oust Pioneers In Home Debut

UW-Oshkosh won 10 of 13 events, including a pair by Case Geidl, Jarrett Lieder and Matt Wilke, to defeat the Carroll University men's swimming & diving team, 139-47, in its home opener on Saturday (Oct. 27) in Albee Hall.

Geidl took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.10 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 51.62. He also joined Lieder, Michael Gerondale and Ian Sewell in recording a winning time of 3:28.27 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Lieder also earned a pair of freestyle victories, winning distances at 500 yards in 5:16.37 and 1,650 yards in 18:06.20.

Wilke won both diving categories after totaling 298.25 points off the 1-meter board and 294.05 off the 3-meter plank.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining victories belonged to Sewell in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.74, David Bain in the 100-yard backstroke with a swim of 1:02.15 and Alex Jernberg in the 100-yard breaststroke with a performance of 1:08.99.

Bain also finished second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:23.04 while helping the Titans' 400-yard medley relay team post a second-place time of 4:09.49. Other members of 400-yard medley relay squad were Jernberg, Cody Else and Alex Marshall.

Jernberg added a second-place swim of 18:33.04 in the 1,650-yard freestyle and Sewell a third-place listing of 54.69 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.

The Titans received a pair of second-place finishes from Gerondale and Evan Bredesen. Gerondale swam to times of 53.27 seconds in the 100- and 2:01.70 in the 200-yard freestyle events while Bredesen dove to scores of 239.00 off the 1-meter board and 194.75 off the 3-meter surface.

UW-Oshkosh also had Else finish second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.42 and third in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 20:12.77; Marshall second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:09.61; and Matt Holst third in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.30 seconds and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:22.18.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts UW-Whitewater in Albee Hall on Nov. 9.
