Titans Score Six Times To Overpower Sabres

Javier Simon and Michael Dugan both scored twice in each half as the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team defeated Marian University, 6-0, on Wednesday (Oct. 8) in Fond du Lac.

UW-Oshkosh (8-5-1) recorded its sixth shutout of the year while setting a season best for goals scored. The Titans have now won 28 of their 30 meetings (28-1-1 record) with the Sabres (5-7).

Simon gave UW-Oshkosh a 1-0 lead when he dribbled down the right side and slipped a shot inside the near post during the 19th minute of play (18:35).

Simon then followed passes from John Schwalbach and Karl Bock with a scoring shot to the far post in the 58th minute (57:33). The goal, Simon's team-leading sixth of the season, put UW-Oshkosh ahead, 3-0.

Dugan scored the Titans' second goal on a kick that snuck inside the right post during the 34th minute (33:42). His scoring boot followed a pass from Elias Efthimiou.

Dugan went on to score UW-Oshkosh's fifth goal off a rebound in the 82nd minute (81:13). Malcom Jeffris started the scoring play with a shot that bounced off Marian University goalkeeper Bryce Woldt and into Dugan's possession. Dugan then kicked the short shot into the goal for his second scoring strike of the season.

At the 75-minute mark, David Radtke gave UW-Oshkosh a 4-0 lead with his first goal of the year. His scoring blast from 16 yards out came off a pass from Billy Cameron.

Hans Becker finished UW-Oshkosh's scoring off a cross from Dugan in the 86th minute (85:56). Becker's conversion of the short kick marked his second goal of the season.

UW-Oshkosh recorded overwhelming advantages of 25-2 in shots, 17-2 in shots on goal and 7-1 in corner kicks. The Titans held the Sabres without a shot in the first half.

A total of 13 Titans attempted shots, including three each from Becker, Dugan, Simon and Danny Kobin. Javier Miranda and Christian Rodriguez launched one shot each for the Sabres.

UW-Oshkosh shared its goalkeeping duties between Sam Gabrilska and Nick Barry. Gabrilska played the first 50:42 of the match, while Barry played the final 39:18 and registered a save on both Marian University shots.

Marian University goalkeeper Bryce Woldt saved 11 shots and allowed all six UW-Oshkosh goals.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts Lakeland College next Wednesday (Oct. 15) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
