Schommer, Versnik Named To Hampshire Honor Society

UW-Oshkosh senior football players Craig Schommer and Sam Versnik have been named to the 2016 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society.

The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout his college career.

UW-Oshkosh was one of three WIAC programs to have players recognized by the 2016 NFF Hampshire Society. UW-Stout had three players earn the honor while UW-Whitewater had eight.

With the help of Schommer and Versnik, both four-year letter winners, UW-Oshkosh clinched WIAC titles and appeared in the NCAA Division III postseason in 2012 and 2015 as the Titans compiled a 38-9 record during the past four seasons.

Schommer, an accounting and supply chain management double-major from Freedom, owns a 3.544 cumulative grade point average. The wide receiver ranked third on the team last season with 33 receptions for 352 yards and five touchdowns. He added eight carries 53 yards.

Schommer capped his career with 51 catches for 505 yards with five scores in 30 games, including the last 17 as a starter. He also rushed 33 times for 335 yards and three touchdowns.

Versnik, a criminal justice major from West Allis, owns a 3.330 grade point average. The durable offensive lineman played in each of UW-Oshkosh's 47 games over the last past four seasons, including the last three years (33 games) as a starter.

After garnering All-WIAC first team laurels in 2014 and 2015 and honorable mention status in 2013, Versnik was named to D3football.com's All-America First Team in 2015 as the Titans set a school record with 550 points.

A record total of 875 players from 278 schools qualified for membership as the society celebrates its 10th year.
