Titans Coast To Win Over Pioneers

Kade Bohlman and Eric Modaff both had three of UW-Oshkosh's 16 hits as the Titans cruised to a 10-3 baseball victory over Transylvania University on Sunday (March 17) in Lexington, Ky.

UW-Oshkosh (3-6) jumped out to a 9-1 lead after four innings while Titans starting pitcher Chris Atwood hurled a career-best 6.1 innings to earn the win.

Jensen Hinton, Alex Koch, Griffith Lukes and Hunter Staniske each added two hits for the Titans. Lukes doubled twice, and Staniske and Dylan Ott contributed two runs batted in apiece.

Atwood (1-2), making his fourth career start on the mound, gave up two runs on seven hits before exiting in the seventh inning. He issued two walks and registered a career-high six strikeouts.

UW-Oshkosh scored a run in the top of the first inning before scoring three times in both the second and third frames, and twice in the fourth.

The Titans opened the scoring on an RBI single from Koch in the first inning and increased their lead to 4-0 in the second frame following run-scoring hits from Bohlman, Lukes and Ott.

UW-Oshkosh's three-run third inning featured RBI singles by Modaff and Staniske, and a squeeze bunt from Jonathan Selchow. Hinton and Staniske produced consecutive run-scoring hits an inning later as UW-Oshkosh collected 12 hits through four frames.

Ott gave the Titans a 10-1 lead in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly that scored Bohlman.

Michael Blair and Hudson Chastain both had two of the Pioneers' eight hits.

Pioneers starting pitcher Luke Wilson was charged with the loss, surrendering four runs on five hits and one walk in two innings.

Transylvania University (6-8) has lost five of its last seven games.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Earlham College for a three-game series in Richmond, Ind. The Titans and Quakers are set to play a doubleheader Saturday (March 23) and a single contest next Sunday (March 24).
