Titans Earn Split With 12-Inning Victory

Nick Barry's walk-off sacrifice fly gave UW-Oshkosh one win at UW-Stout on Friday (April 18) in Menomonie.

The Blue Devils (17-10/7-5 WIAC) scored the first six runs to capture a 7-5 decision in the opener. During the 12th inning of the nightcap, the Titans scored on Robbie Kleman's groundout and Barry's fly ball to grab a 6-5 triumph.

UW-Stout took advantage of six errors and five unearned runs in the first contest.

Jake Lunow posted a bunt single in the third frame to put the Blue Devils ahead, 2-0. Errors allowed two more runs to score before Ryan Freitag increased the lead to 5-0 with a sacrifice fly.

Luke Gajewski helped the Titans get back in the game with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning and a run-scoring double during the seventh. UW-Oshkosh also had Jake Dostalek crush a two-run homer in the seventh that made it 6-4.

Brent Mueller got the pitching win with five runs allowed in 6.2 frames. Kellen Pearson threw 2.1 scoreless innings to clinch the save.

The loss went to Travis Sindles, who was charged with two earned runs in 5.2 innings. Joe Pavlovich yielded one unearned run over the next three frames.

In the second contest, the teams went back and forth for five innings. The Titans tied the score, 1-1, on Ian Czarneski's groundout in the second. Robbie Kleman then sacrificed a run home in the third to put UW-Oshkosh ahead, 2-1.

Nick Nalbach slapped an RBI single in the top of the fifth to tie the game. That 2-2 score remained until the 10th inning.

Both teams tallied twice in the 10th, with UW-Stout marking on a Lunow single and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. The Titans took advantage of a passed ball and a fielding error to make it 4-4.

During the 12th, Jake Schneider hit a run-scoring double to take the lead. Kleman and Barry then counted RBI in the bottom half for the victory.

Pavlovich fired the last 3.1 innings, allowing three runs, for the victory. Brett Steinwagner surrendered two runs for the loss, after UW-Stout starter Zach Carlson threw the first 10 innings with one earned run.
