UW-La Crosse is proud to host the 2024 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Wrestling Championships. The championships are scheduled for March 15-16 at the La Crosse Center. The two-day event features 180 participants representing approximately 60 schools from across the United States. This marks the fourth time UW-La Crosse has hosted the NCAA III Wrestling Championships (2011, 2012, 2017, 2024). UW-La Crosse was also scheduled to host the 2021 national championships, but the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 public health threat.
The university has hosted several other national competitions, including the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 1986, 1997, 2013 and 2018. UWL will host the 2026 NCAA III Outdoor Championships at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The university has hosted the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Division III Championships four times in school history (1989, 1997, 2005, 2015).
UWL hosted the 1995 NCAA III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships and has also served as the host of the 1973, 1976 and 1981 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Gymnastics Championships and the 1965 and 1970 NAIA Men's Swimming Championships. The university has also hosted numerous games in the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs, matches for the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament and in the NCAA Division III Soccer Championships.
