Titans Finish 11th At Kollege Town Sports Invitational

UW-Oshkosh finished 11th among 34 collegiate programs at the Kollege Town Sports Women's Cross Country Invitational it hosted Saturday (Oct. 19) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

The Titans, ranked 32nd in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, earned their 11th-place listing by totaling 294 points

Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.), which won titles at both the Division III Championship and Kollege Town Sports Invitational a year ago, captured Saturday's team title with 27 points.

University of Chicago (Ill.) finished second to the Bears with 90 points while UW-Eau Claire placed third with 100, Wartburg College (Iowa) fourth with 115 and Hope College (Mich.) fifth with 203.

Completing the top 10 team listings were sixth-place Calvin University (Mich.) with 225 points, seventh-place North Central College (Ill.) with 234, eighth-place Elmhurst College (Ill.) and Wheaton College (Ill.) with 243 and 10th-place Carroll University with 293.

In addition to UW-Oshkosh, other nationally ranked programs competing in Saturday's meet were second-ranked University of Chicago, third-ranked Washington University in St. Louis, 11th-ranked Wartburg College, 15th-ranked UW-Eau Claire, 17th-ranked Hope College and 27th-ranked Elmhurst College.

UW-Oshkosh's top individual finisher on Saturday was Amanda Van Den Plas, who completed the 6,000-meter course with a 51st-place time of 23:20. She was a 132nd-place finisher at last year's meet.

The Titans had four other runners in the top 150 listings as Ashton Keene finished 58th with a time of 23:24, Hannah Lohrenz 66th in 23:29, Meygan Benzing 84th in 23:41, Alexandria Demco 107th in 24:03 and Tayah Cunningham 142nd in 24:26.

UW-Oshkosh also received a 207th-place time of 25:12 from Melissa Srnka, a 213th-place time of 25:18 from Lauren Urban and a 225th-place time of 25:35 from Libby Geisness.

Former Titan Cheyenne Moore, running unattached, took first place among the meet's 419 participants with her time of 21:33.

Other runners finishing in the top five were second-place Paige Lawler from Washington University in St. Louis at 21:40, third-place Carina Collet from Wartburg College at 22:01, fourth-place Sophie Watterson from Washington University in St. Louis at 22:11 and fifth-place Lexie Tremble from UW-Eau Claire at 22:13. Lawler also finished second in last year's race.

UW-Oshkosh will host a four-team meet Friday (Oct. 25) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club.
