Titans Place Eighth In Season Debut
Evlyn Noone's first collegiate race resulted in a team-best seventh-place finish as UW-Oshkosh opened its 2018 women's cross country season at the Vic Godfrey Open on Saturday (Sept. 8) in Somers.
Noone captured her finish by completing the 5,000-meter UW-Parkside course with a time of 18:50.
Hannah Lohrenz crossed the finish line second for UW-Oshkosh with a 51st-place time of 20:01. Ashton Keene followed closely behind Lohrenz in 56th place with a time of 20:17, leaving Amanda Van Den Plas and Elizabeth Reddeman to tightly round out the Titans' top five finishes with of overall listings of 60th (20:21) and 62nd (20:22), respectively.
NCAA Division I Kansas State University captured the team title with 161 points. Four Division I teams took the next four finishes as Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) placed second with 66 points, UW-Milwaukee third with 79, Marquette University fourth with 84 and Loyola University (Ill.) fifth with 115.
NCAA Division II UW-Parkside finished sixth in the 11-team meet with 139 points while Division I DePaul University (Ill.) placed seventh with 166, UW-Oshkosh eighth with 199 and NAIA Mount Mercy University (Iowa) ninth with 290.
IUPUI's Katelyn Murphy ran to the individual title with a time of 18:09. Kansas State University's Melgares trailed Murphy with a second-place time of 18:16.
Mary Hanson of Marquette University finished third among the meet's 125 runners with a time of 18:18 while Sydney Collins of Kansas State University place fourth in 18:23 and Morgan Fleming of IUPUI fifth in 18:23.
Other UW-Oshkosh participants finishing in the top 100 listings were Alexis Reichardt with an 84th-time of 21:00 and Breanna Van Den Plas with 100th-place time of 22:03.
UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts the Titan Fall Classic on Sept. 21 at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.
