Brown Paces Titans At UW-Oshkosh Open

Lexus Brown was UW-Oshkosh's top runner during a women's cross country meet the Titans hosted on Friday (Oct. 20) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

Brown placed seventh among the meet's 38 contestants by completing the 6,000-meter race with a time of 26:37.

Brown, along with Melissa Srnka, Lorraine Tenpenny and Amanda Van Den Plas, were the only UW-Oshkosh participants in the meet. Van Den Plas finished eighth with a time of 26:49 while Srnka placed 10th in 26:56 and Tenpenny 21st in 28:56.

Sydney Prestifilippo of UW-Whitewater won the individual title with a time of 24:51. Makani Peters of UW-Stevens Point finished second in 25:44 while Brenna Kautz of UW-Platteville ranked third in 25:47, Alexis Anderson of UW-Stevens Point fourth in 26:09 and Sara Fuller of UW-Whitewater fifth in 26:11.

UW-Stevens Point captured the team title with 29 points. The Pointers had all five of their scorers finish among the meet's top 13 runners.

UW-Whitewater placed second in the four-team meet with 48 points while UW-Platteville listed third with 68 and Maranatha Baptist University fourth with 92.

UW-Oshkosh rested nearly all of its runners in preparation for next Saturday's (Oct. 28) WIAC Championship in Whitewater. The Titans are a 16-time WIAC champion, with the last title coming in 2015.
