Moore Runs To Second Straight Victory

Cheyenne Moore won her second consecutive race as UW-Oshkosh finished seventh among 15 women's cross country teams at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational held Friday (Sept. 29) in Colfax.

Moore, who defeated 167 runners to win the Maroon Division of the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 23 in Falcon Heights, Minn., outran 242 other competitors to capture Friday's race with a 6,000-meter time of 22:00.

Elizabeth Frick, running unattached, placed second to Moore with a time of 22:04 while Raissa Hansen of NCAA Division II Winona State University (Minn.) finished third in 22:14. Jaycie Thomsen, running unattached, took fourth place with a time of 22:16 and UW-La Crosse's Rebecca Voss fifth in 22:16.

UW-Oshkosh earned seventh place in the team standings with 205 points. The Titans reached their scoring output with Ashton Keene's 65th-place time of 23:57, Hannah Lohrenz's 67th-place time of 24:01, Jessica Stamn's 88th-place time of 24:32 and Cammy Garvelink's 101st-place time of 24:44. 

UW-Oshkosh also had Reece Matheson finish 111th with a time of 24:52, Hannah Thorn 124th in 25:10, Tayah Cunningham 141st in 25:41, Amanda Van Den Plas 144th in 25:46, Erica Liesen 147th in 25:49, Lexus Brown 152nd in 25:59, Allison Chen 158th in 26:07 and Melissa Srnka 175th in 26:47.

UW-Eau Claire claimed the team title with 47 points while defending WIAC champion UW-La Crosse placed second with 76, Winona State University third with 97, NCAA Division I University of Minnesota fourth with 104 and St. Olaf College (Minn.) fifth with 118.

Rounding out the top 10 teams were sixth-place UW-Platteville with 189 points, UW-Oshkosh, eighth-place UW-Stout with 215, ninth-place UW-Whitewater with 257 and 10th-place Concordia University Wisconsin with 261.

UW-Oshkosh will compete at Lawrence University's Gene Davis Invitational next Saturday (Oct. 7) in Appleton.
