Moore Runs To Roy Griak Invitational Victory

UW-Oshkosh's Cheyenne Moore battled through temperatures in the mid-80s to win the Maroon Division title of the Roy Griak Women's Cross Country Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 23) in Falcon Heights, Minn.

Moore, who finished ninth in last year's race, completed this year's 6,000-meter course in a time of 22:55. She defeated 167 other runners, including UW-Oshkosh teammate Ashton Keene, who placed 16th with a time of 24:58.

Carleton College (Minn.) captured the team title after placing three of its runners among the top five finishes. The Knights had Emily Kaegi finish second with a time of 22:57, Amanda Mosborg fourth in 23:41 and Helen Schuda fifth in 23:42.

Abigail Fouts and Linsey Tolkkinen of UW-River Falls placed third and sixth with times of 23:31 and 23:51, respectively.

Carleton College ranked first in the 12-team field with 26 points. The Knights were followed by second-place University of St. Thomas (Minn.) with 67 points, third-place UW-River Falls with 82, fourth-place UW-Oshkosh with 130, fifth-place Macalester College (Minn.) with 144 and sixth-place Hamline University (Minn.) with 166.

In addition to Moore and Keene, UW-Oshkosh completed its team scoring with the 27th-place time of 25:28 from Hannah Lorenz, 51st-place time of 26:07 from Hannah Thorn and the 56th-place time of 26:10 from Reece Matheson.

The Titans also had Elizabeth Reddeman finish 68th with a time of 26:34, Paige Schilling 75th in 26:53, Tayah Cunningham 108th in 28:15 and Jessica Stamn 109th in 28:18.

UW-Oshkosh competes at UW-Eau Claire's Blugold Invitational on Friday (Sept. 29) in Colfax.
