Titans Finish 17th At Roy Griak Invitational

The UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team finished 17th at the Roy Griak Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 28) in Minneapolis, Minn.

Wartburg College (Iowa) won the 29-team event with 63 points. The Knights were followed by second-place Bates College (Maine) with 103 points, third-place Carleton College (Minn.) with 118 and fourth-place UW-La Crosse with 132. St. Olaf College (Minn.) and The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) shared fifth place with 158 points.

Rounding out the top 10 teams were seventh-place UW-Stevens Point with 177 points, eighth-place UW-Eau Claire with 272 and ninth-place Macalester College (Minn.) and UW-River Falls with 324.

UW-Oshkosh counted 458 points, 25 behind the 15th-place score of 433 recorded by Bethel University (Minn.).

The Titans were led individually by Erica Munyan's 86th-place finish. Munyan completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 24:59.

UW-Oshkosh's team scoring also included Kristin Linzmeier's 96th-place time of 25:05, Kylee Verhasselt's 108th-place time of 25:15, Sonny Jenkins' 122nd-place time of 25:31 and Leah Rendflesh's 128th-place time of 25:35.

Other UW-Oshkosh results had Danica Harrison finish 143rd in 25:40, Rhea Fiorita 185th in 26:12, Mariah McMullen 193rd in 26:19, Gabrhael Walman 225th in 26:51, Morgan Engelhart 226th in 26:53, Alexa Nutter 251st in 27:25, Kate Brooks 258th in 27:29, Kendal Wormuth 261st in 27:33, Betsy Gray 271st in 27:40 and Michelle Murray 325th in 28:47. A total of 409 runners completed the race.

Chelsea Marie Johnson of The College of St. Scholastica captured the individual title with a time of 22:03. Noelle Olson of St. Olaf College finished second in 22:19, Danielle Kunkel of UW-Platteville third in 22:36 and Elana Enabnit of Wartburg College fourth in 22:54.

UW-Oshkosh participates at the prestigious Notre Dame Invitational on Friday (Oct. 4) in South Bend, Ind.
