Bio

Rocky Koenig begins his third season as the associate head coach of the women’s volleyball coaching staff at UW-Oshkosh in 2021. The 2020 season was canceled due to the novel cornavirus pandemic.

Koenig’s volleyball coaching experience travels all over the Midwest, ranging from high schools to youth clubs and even NCAA programs.

Starting with two periods as the head girls coach at Ashwaubenon High School in 2003 and later in 2013, Koenig also served as an assistant girls coach at Homestead High School in 2007 and the head girls coach at Delta High School (Ohio) from 2009-12.

Most recently, Koenig was the girls head coach at Wrightstown High School from 2014-17. He guided the Tigers to a regional title in 2015.

Koenig has also been heavily involved in the club volleyball scene. From 2004 to 2008, Koenig was the head girls coach for Milwaukee Sting, where his 16’s team grabbed consecutive fifth-place finishes at JVA National Championship in 2007 and 2008.

Since 2013, Koenig has been with Wisconsin Volleyball Academy as a coach and a member of the Board of Directors. His position allows him to assists with all aspects of administration and club management.

Koenig is no stranger to the NCAA level of play, having been an assistant women’s coach at Division I UW-Milwaukee from 2005-07. The Panthers’ 2006 team compiled a 24-6 record and participated in the Division I postseason tournament. Koenig also served as an assistant coach at Division I North Dakota State University in 2008.

Koenig played volleyball for Grossmont College (Calif.) in 2001 and Palomar College (Calif.) in 2002.

Koenig then played for the club team at Lakeland University from 2003-05. He was a two-time All-American, a two-time conference Player of the Year and a five-time all-conference libero for the Muskies. Koenig was inducted into the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Hall of Fame in 2008 and was also the recipient of the Leif Storvik Sportsmanship Award in 2005.

Koenig obtained his bachelor’s degree from Lakeland University in 2005. The Valders High School graduate lives in Kaukauna with his wife, Anita, and son, Cole.
