Gardner Earns WIAC Women's Volleyball Athlete Of The Week Award

UW-Oshkosh libero Rachel Gardner was named the WIAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week for her effort in matches held Aug. 27-Sept. 2.

Gardner collected all-tournament honors as UW-Oshkosh won three of its four matches at the Puget Sound Premiere held Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in Tacoma, Wash.

Gardner counted a team-high 81 digs for the tournament. She also totaled nine assists and four service aces.

During UW-Oshkosh's 3-2 win over Elizabethtown College (Pa.) on Sept. 1, Gardner compiled 28 digs, three assists and one kill.

In the Titans' 3-1 victory over 16th-ranked Millikin University (Ill.) on Sept. 1, Gardner recorded 23 digs, two service aces and one assist.

Gardner also tallied 16 digs, four assists and one service ace during UW-Oshkosh's 3-0 triumph over tournament host University of Puget Sound (Wash.) on Aug. 31.

The WIAC chose outside hitter Dakota Poitra of UW-River Falls as its Offensive Athlete of the Week.
