Malcheski Collects WIAC Volleyball Weekly Award

UW-Oshkosh outside hitter Katelyn Malcheski was selected as the WIAC Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for contests held Oct. 13-19.

Malcheski hit .292 with 76 kills, 11 blocks and seven digs as UW-Oshkosh went unbeaten in five matches to raise its record to 24-3 on the season.

Malcheski had double-digit kill totals in every contest, including 12 in UW-Oshkosh's 3-0 WIAC win over UW-La Crosse on Oct. 15.

Malcheski was then named to the all-tournament team at the UW-Eau Claire Fall Classic held Oct. 17-18. She hit .283 for the tournament with 64 kills and nine blocks.

Hitting .326 with 18 kills, four digs and three blocks, Malcheski led UW-Oshkosh to a 3-2 victory over 22nd-ranked (NCAA Division III) College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) on Oct. 17. Her performance followed a 14-kill effort during the Titans' 3-1 triumph over the University of Minnesota Morris.

Malcheski concluded the tournament with 17 kills and a .324 hitting percentage against the University of Northwestern-St. Paul (Minn.) and 15 kills and a .205 hitting percentage against The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.). The Titans defeated the University of Northwestern-St. Paul, 3-2, and The College of St. Scholastica, 3-1.

The WIAC named defensive specialist Hannah Picel of UW-Stevens Point as its Defensive Player of the Week.
