Titans Record Home Sweep Of Eagles

UW-Oshkosh won the first two sets in thrilling fashion during its 3-0 women's volleyball sweep of UW-La Crosse on Wednesday (Oct. 17) in Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans (16-13, 2-3 WIAC) captured the match in set scores of 31-29, 25-23 and 25-15.

UW-La Crosse (13-15, 2-3 WIAC) was ahead late in both the first and second sets, but couldn't hold on. UW-Oshkosh built leads of 15-8 and 20-11 to take the final set.

The Eagles marked a 7-1 scoring run to take a 16-14 advantage in the opening set. UW-Oshkosh then slowly chipped away and tied the score at 24. UW-La Crosse failed to convert four set points as the Titans rallied to score the final three points.

The second set was tied at 9, 14 and 20. UW-Oshkosh was down, 22-20, before counting five of the last six points.

UW-Oshkosh never trailed during the final set. The Titans jumped to a 7-3 advantage and never looked back.

UW-Oshkosh's Morgan Liebetrau (Sr. • West Bend) had a big match by hitting .750 with 31 assists, nine kills, nine digs and four blocks. The Titans also received nine kills from Larissa Krumplitsch (Sr. • Appleton), 20 digs from Robyn Eggert (Jr. • Woodridge, Ill.) and 15 digs from Rachel Smith (Fr. • Cottage Grove).

The nine kills of Leah Putzier, 17 assists of Cassie Raduka and 15 digs of Katie Kaufman led the Eagles. UW-La Crosse had 11 service errors during the match.

UW-Oshkosh has a total of four matches scheduled for Friday and Saturday (Oct. 19-20) at the Loras College Invitational (Iowa).
