Jackson Paces Titans At Midwest ELITE Invitational

Mikayla Jackson placed in two events to the lead the UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team at the UW-Whitewater Midwest ELITE Invitational held Saturday (Feb. 15).

Jackson finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.41 seconds and seventh in the 60-meter dash at 7.98.

The Titans had three other fifth-place results as Ashton Keene and Amanda Van Den Plas posted times of 17:50.11 in 5,000-meter run and 5:16.27 in the mile run, respectively, while Sydney Thompson recorded a measurement of 42-2 3/4 in the shot put. Thompson ranks 19th in the NCAA Division III this winter with her season-best distance of 43-9 in the shot put.

UW-Oshkosh had a trio of sixth-place finishes, including Danae Prange's distance of 36-7 in the triple jump and Emma Warr's height of 10-11 3/4 in the pole vault.

The Titans' 1,600-meter relay group of Alexandra Demco, Libby Geisness, Hannah Lohrenz and Melissa Srnka finished sixth with their time of 4:10.62. Geisness also placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.41.

UW-Oshkosh had two other seventh-place finishes as Morgan Florek registered a distance of 53-3 1/2 in the 20-pound weight throw and Sadie Huth a time of 9.23 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Florek ranks 26th nationally in the 20-pound weight throw with her season-best measurement of 54-4 3/4.

The Titans' remaining eighth-place finishes went to Rachel Castelli with her time of 26.72 seconds in the 200-meter dash and Cara Volz with her skip of 35-10 in the triple jump.

Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) won the eight-team meet with 161.5 points. The Bears were followed by second-place UW-La Crosse with 145.5 points and third-place Wartburg College (Iowa) with 100. Carthage College and UW-Stevens Point shared fourth place with 46 points while UW-Oshkosh finished seventh with 34.

UW-La Crosse entered the meet ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association while Washington University in St. Louis was fifth, Carthage College 10th, Wartburg College 21st and UW-Stevens Point 22nd.

UW-Oshkosh will host the Titan Challenge next Saturday (Feb. 22) in Kolf Sports Center.
