List Of Red Hawk Opener Place Winners Includes Numerous Titans

Morgan Florek won two field events to lead UW-Oshkosh's seven first-place performances at the Ripon College Women's Track & Field Red Hawk Opener held Saturday (Jan. 25) in Ripon.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 252 points, including all 39 in the 20-pound weight throw, to capture the team title. Ripon College finished second to the Titans in the seven-team meet with 139 points while Viterbo University placed third with 75.5, Lawrence University fourth with 49 and North Park University (Ill.) fifth with 19.

Besides its perfect score in the 20-pound weight throw, UW-Oshkosh also compiled 37 team points in the shot put, 24 in the triple jump, 22 in the 1,600-meter relay and 21 in the 200-meter dash.

Florek earned her first-place listings with measurements of 51-1 in the 20-pound weight throw and 42-10 1/4 in the shot put. The shot put featured 24 contestants and the 20-pound weight throw 22.

The 20-pound weight throw also had Titans Allie Marineau finish second with a distance of 48-11 1/2, Mikaela Zolecki third at 48-11 1/2, Elise Deaver fourth at 46-0, Kahley Logan fifth at 45-1 3/4, Michaela Barrette sixth at 44-5 1/2, Taya Fleischman seventh at 43-7 and Anna Skubal eighth at 42-0.

Other UW-Oshkosh scorers in the shot put were second-place Katie Fruth with a mark of 40-1 1/4, third-place Logan at 39-0 1/4, fourth-place Fleischman at 38-7, fifth-place Marineau at 36-3, sixth-place Barrette at 36-0 3/4 and eighth-place Zolecki at 35-9 1/4.

Alexandra Demco and Melissa Srnka each won a middle-distance event while helping the Titans finish first in the 1,600-meter relay.

Demco defeated 14 other participants in the mile run with her time of 5:33.38. The Titans also had Libby Geisness finish third in the event with a time of 5:35.04 and Tricia Cich eighth in 6:16.70.

Srnka ousted 18 other competitors in the 800-meter run with her time of 2:25.17. UW-Oshkosh also had Breanna Van Den Plas place second in the event with a time of 2:27.85.

Demco and Srnka also ran with Geisness and Van Den Plas for a winning time of 4:12.26 in the 1,600-meter relay. UW-Oshkosh had two other scoring performances in the relay as Rachel Castelli, Morgan Endries, Kyra Huber and Lauren Rabe finished second in 4:20.26 and Sadie Huth, Erica Lorenz, Grace Tempesta and Calie Walk fifth in 4:38.85.

In the triple jump, UW-Oshkosh's Cara Volz conquered eight other performers with her winning measurement of 36-7 1/2. The skip by Volz ranks 20th in the NCAA Division III this indoor season. The Titans also had Danae Prange finish second in the triple jump with a mark of 35-3 3/4 and Hanna Gray third at 33-2 1/2.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining event winner on Saturday was Emma Warr in the pole vault. She defeated eight other participants with her height of 10-11 3/4. Titan Meghan Vandenlangenberg placed seventh with a measurement of 8-2 1/2.

UW-Oshkosh's 21 team points in the 200-meter dash was led by Mikayla Jackson's second-place time of 26.83 seconds. The Titans also had Castelli finish third with a time of 26.84 seconds, Huber fourth in 27.11 and Amanda Starzynski seventh in 27.67.

The Titans also tallied 20 team points in the long jump and 19 in the 60-meter dash.

Huth ranked third in the long jump with a leap of 17-0 while Kiley Lynch-Youngman finished fourth at 16-7 3/4, Starzynski fifth at 16-4 1/4, Jackson sixth at 16-0 1/2 and Katie Retzlaff seventh at 16-0 1/4. In the 60-meter dash, Jackson placed second with a time of 8.06 seconds while Taylor Pralle finished third in 8.07 and Huber fourth in 8.08.

UW-Oshkosh had four other scorers in the 60-meter hurdles as Huth finished third with a time of 9.47 seconds, Tempesta fourth in 9.59, Retzlaff fifth in 9.67 and Lorenz eighth in 10.37.

The Titans completed their team scoring with the fourth-place height of 4-7 1/2 from Skyler Miller and the sixth-place leap of 4-5 1/2 from Jenna Trione in the high jump.

UW-Oshkosh will compete next Saturday (Feb. 1) at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Classic Invitational.
