Titans Use Depth In Numbers To Overpower Vikings

Nine first-place finishes and 21 other top-three listings helped the UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team overwhelm Lawrence University by a 105-10 score on Saturday (Jan. 18) in Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans displayed their overall depth by sweeping the top-three mentions in 400-meter run, 800-meter run, 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 20-pound weight throw.

Morgan Florek was UW-Oshkosh's lone multiple winner in the meet. She won the shot put with a measurement of 43-0 1/4 and the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 50-4 1/2.

Taya Fleischman finished second and Kahley Logan third for the Titans in the shot put with marks of 38-4 1/4 and 38-0 1/4, respectively, while Mikaela Zolecki placed second and Logan third in the 20-pound weight throw with casts of 48-6 1/4 and 46-6 3/4, respectively.

Titan Alexandra Demco won the 400-meter run with a time of 1:02.94 while Lauren Rabe finished second in 1:03.57 and Melissa Srnka third in 1:03.67.

The 800-meter run had UW-Oshkosh's Hannah Lohrenz placing first with a time of 2:23.54, Amanda Van Den Plas second in 2:27.07 and Ashton Keene third in 2:33.69.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Titan Katie Retzlaff finished first with a time of 9.73 seconds while Sadie Huth placed second in 9.78 and Grace Tempesta third in 9.80. Retzlaff also listed second in the long jump with a leap of 16-8.

The high jump featured Titans Erica Lorenz ranking first with a height of 4-10 1/2, Tempesta second at 4-8 1/4 and Jenna Trione third at 4-7.

Other individual winners for the Titans were Danae Prange in the triple jump with a skip of 34-8 1/4 and Emma Warr in the pole vault with a height of 10-11 3/4.

UW-Oshkosh won the 1,600-meter relay as Demco, Lohrenz, Srnka and Libby Geisness posted a time of 4:14.89.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining second-place results went to Rachel Castelli with a time of 26.74 seconds in the 200-meter dash, Hanna Gray with a measurement of 33-2 in the triple jump and Taylor Pralle in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.93 seconds.

Five other Titans earned third-place finishes – Grace Baldwin in the pole vault with a height of 9-6 1/4, Morgan Endries in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.97 seconds, Kyra Huber in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.03 seconds, Kiley Lynch-Youngman in the long jump with a distance of 15-10 1/2 and Breanna Van Den Plas in the mile run with a time of 5:43.96.

UW-Oshkosh will compete at the Ripon College Red Hawk Opener next Saturday (Jan. 25).
