Moore Chosen To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
UW-Oshkosh senior Cheyenne Moore has been selected to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® 6 NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team.
The 15-member squad, chosen by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
The Academic All-District® 6 Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team was comprised of student-athletes from institutions in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Moore, who participated in just indoor track & field during the 2018-19 academic year due to the completion of her athletic eligibility in cross country and outdoor track & field, was one of six WIAC student-athletes receiving Academic All-District® 6 recognition. The other WIAC honorees were Michelle Petkovsek and Karen Wethal from UW-Stevens Point, Abbie Felton from UW-Whitewater, Erica Oawster from UW-Eau Claire and Stephanie Pladies from UW-Stout.
Academic All-District® honorees will advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
Moore graduated from UW-Oshkosh in December and completed her nursing requirements in January. She compiled a 3.75 cumulative grade point average and was named to the UW-Oshkosh Dean's List during six of her nine semesters of attendance. Moore was a four-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member who earned All-Academic honors on three occasions from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
This past indoor track & field season, Moore finished sixth (16:50.79) in the 5,000-meter run to earn All-America honors at the Division III Championship in Boston, Mass. She also won the 3,000-meter run (9:59.21) and placed third in the mile run (5:06.36) at the WIAC Championship in Whitewater.
Moore won consecutive WIAC women's cross country titles in 2016 and 2017 to become the seventh Titan to win the league race multiple times. Moore won four consecutive meets during her senior season in 2017, capping off the string of victories by defending her league title on the way to being named the WIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
Moore placed fourth at the 2017 Division III Cross Country Midwest Regional for the second straight year before earning All-America accolades with an eighth-place finish at the Division III Championship. Moore's incredible senior campaign featured top-nine finishes at each of her eight races. No WIAC runner crossed the finish line ahead of Moore during the entire cross country season.
Moore's cross country highlights also include a 45th-place effort at the 2016 Division III Championship.
In track & field, Moore qualified for the Division III Indoor Championship four times, competing in the 5,000-meter race in 2017 (14th place), 2018 (13th) and 2019 (6th), and the 3,000-meter event in 2018 (10th). She won the 5,000-meter run at the 2018 WIAC Indoor Championship after finishing second in the event in 2017.
Moore was named the 2018 Division III Midwest Region Track Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA, becoming just the third Titan to win the award. She also received All-Midwest Region honors from the USTFCCCA in the indoor mile run (2019), indoor 3,000-meter run (2017-19), indoor 5,000-meter run (2017-19), indoor distance medley relay (2019) and the outdoor 10,000-meter run (2017).
Moore ranks second in UW-Oshkosh history with her indoor times of 9:47 in the 3,000- and 16:49 in the 5,000-meter run.
Moore, a graduate of Winnebago (Ill.) High School, was named the female winner of the 2018 UW-Oshkosh John Taylor Senior Scholar-Athlete Award. She was also selected as the co-winner of the WIAC's 2017 Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award for women's cross country.
Moore's volunteering contributions include helping with chronically ill and hospitalized children, Salvation Army, UW-Oshkosh Titan 5K Run and Fox Cities Marathon. She also did volunteer reading with children in Oshkosh-area elementary schools.
