Titans Dominate Throwing Events At St. Norbert College Twilight Meet

UW-Oshkosh dominated the throwing events as Titans Isabella Samuels, Alexandria Steger and Mikaela Zolecki all recorded first-place finishes at the St. Norbert College Women's Track & Field Twilight Invitational held Thursday (April 18) in De Pere.

The Titans owned the top five performers in the hammer throw and five of the top eight contestants in both the shot put and discus.

Zolecki defeated 22 other participants in the hammer throw with her winning measurement of 162-9. UW-Oshkosh also had Kahley Logan place second with a mark of 141-4, Allie Marineau third at 139-6, Madeline Hoekstra fourth at 136-4, Taya Fleischman fifth at 129-7.

Samuels was the winner among 24 competitors in the shot put. She won the event with a throw of 43-3 while Marineau finished second at 39-5 1/4, Michaela Barrette fifth at 35-9 1/4, Logan sixth at 35-7 3/4 and Fleischman eighth at 35-1.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining first-place finisher was Steger in the javelin. She beat 21 other challengers with her winning flight of 120-6.

Fleischman was UW-Oshkosh's top performer in the discus. She finished third in the event with a throw of 121-10 while Zolecki placed fourth at 121-8, Marineau fifth at 115-2, Elise Deaver sixth at 110-7 and Barrette eighth at 109-0.

UW-Oshkosh, which had the most of its entries for the meet in the throwing events, finished fifth in the team standings with 88 points. St. Norbert College won the nine-team meet with 141 points while Wisconsin Lutheran College ranked second with 103, Ripon College third with 102.5 and The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) fifth with 95.

UW-Oshkosh will compete at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge on Friday (April 19) in La Crosse.
