Leahy Chosen As WIAC Field Athlete Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh's Megan Leahy was selected as one of the two WIAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week award recipients for meets held April 2-8.

Leahy, the league's top field performer, secured the pole vault title with a career-best height of 12-4 3/4 at the season-opening Benedictine University Invitational on April 7 in Lisle, Ill. Leahy's clearance, which bested the invitational field of 12 by more than two feet, is the third-best mark in the NCAA Division III this outdoor season.

Competing in frigid temperatures, UW-Oshkosh scored 97 points to finish behind the winning 144 points tallied by NCAA Division I Loyola University (Ill.). NCAA Division I University of Illinois-Chicago placed third in the 17-team field with 74.5 points while Concordia University Chicago (Ill.) finished fourth with 60 and NCAA Division I Northwestern University (Ill.) fifth with 55.

Brooke Wellhausen of UW-Stevens Point was named the WIAC Track Athlete of the Week.
