Titans Place Second At Titan Challenge

After competing at the University of Michigan 24 hours earlier, UW-Oshkosh's Cheyenne Moore, Emily Reichenberger and Cara Volz returned to action with winning performances at Saturday's (Feb. 17) Titan Women's Track & Field Challenge in Kolf Sports Center.

Moore defeated 22 other participants in the 3,000-meter run with her first-place time of 9:48.11 while Reichenberger ousted 37 other contestants in the 60-meter dash with her victorious sprint of 7.84 seconds and Volz finished ahead of 22 other opponents in the 60-meter hurdles with her winning effort of 9.04 seconds. Volz also placed third in the triple jump with a skip of 37-11 1/2.

UW-Oshkosh finished second in the team standings 114 points. UW-Eau Claire won the 12-team meet with 154.5 points while UW-Whitewater placed third with 86, NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University fourth with 40, Concordia University Wisconsin fifth with 38.5 and Beloit College sixth with 38.

The host Titans counted 18 of their team points in the 60-meter dash and 16 in the 60-meter hurdles.

UW-Oshkosh's Olivia Seeley finished second to Reichenberger in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.87 seconds while Titan Sadie Huth placed third behind Volz in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.21 seconds.

Karina Marchan of the Titans contributed a pair of top-five finishes with her fourth-place measurement of 17-11 1/2 in the long jump and fifth-place distance of 37-2 1/4 in the triple jump.

UW-Oshkosh had two other second-place performances as Ashton Keene ran to a time of 5:18.14 in the mile run while Ellie Infante marked a cast of 53-0 3/4 in the 20-pound weight throw.

A pair of Titans shared third place in the pole vault as both Megan Leahy and Sydney Rau both leaped to a height of 10-6.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining fifth-place efforts belonged to Kahley Logan with a distance of 39-3 in the shot put, Amanda Van Den Plas with a time of 5:25.10 in the mile run and Lauren Wrensch with a measurement of 17-8 1/4 in the long jump.

Finishing sixth for the Titans were Lindsay Denu with a time of 2:23.93 in the 800-meter run and Mikaela Zolecki with a mark of 48-0 1/2 in the 20-pound weight throw.

UW-Oshkosh participates at the WIAC Indoor Track & Field Championship next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 23-24) in Stevens Point. The 13-time WIAC champion Titans are searching for their first league title since 2012.
