Titans Have Nine Top-10 Listings At Silverston Invitational

The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team combined for nine top-10 finishes at the University of Michigan's Silverston Invitational on Friday (Feb. 16) in Ann Arbor, Mich.

No team scores were kept at the meet that included competitors from NCAA Division I schools Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, Kent State University (Ohio), University of Michigan and University Toledo (Ohio). UW-Oshkosh, Calvin College (Mich.) and Heidelberg University (Ohio) were among the NCAA Division III schools represented.

UW-Oshkosh was led by the third-place performance of 36-3 in the triple jump by Cara Volz. Volz also placed eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.26 seconds. Dace Dremaine of Eastern Michigan University won the triple jump with a mark of 39-1 1/4 while Angela Whyte, who has represented Canada twice in the 100-meter hurdles at the Olympic Games, won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.21 seconds.

The Titans also received a fifth-place time of 58.64 seconds in the 400-meter run from Taylor Pralle, a sixth-place effort of 7.80 seconds in the 60-meter dash from Emily Reichenberger and a seventh-place leap of 17-2 1/4 in the long jump from Lauren Wrensch. Reichenberger added a ninth-place finish with her time of 25.35 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

Achieving an eighth-place finish for the Titans was Olivia Seeley in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.91 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining ninth-place finishes were earned by Karina Marchan and Cheyenne Moore. Marchan marked a distance of 16-5 1/4 in the long jump while Moore recorded a time of 5:02.13 in the mile run.

With the exception of the 60-meter dash, all running events were contested on a banked track.

UW-Oshkosh will host participants from nearly 10 schools in the Titan Challenge on Saturday (Feb. 17) in Kolf Sports Center.
