Titans Coast To Early Bird Invitational Victory

UW-Oshkosh won nine events, including a pair of sprints by Emily Reichenberger, to easily defeat its six visiting women's track & field teams at the Titans' Early Bird Invitational on Saturday (Dec. 2) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh scored 203 points to win its inaugural performance of the 2017-18 indoor season by 104 points over second-place Carroll University. The Pioneers had 99 points and were followed by third-place Concordia University Wisconsin with 93, fourth-place Elmhurst College (Ill.) with 67 and fifth-place Carthage College with 59. 

Reichenberger earned her multiple first-place finishes with times of 7.93 seconds in the 60-meter dash and 26.22 seconds in the 200-meter dash. The two-time All-American finished sixth in the 200-meter dash and eighth in the 60-meter dash at the 2016 and 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship, respectively.

Karina Marchan and Cara Volz both won an event and finished second in another for the Titans. Marchan took first place in the long jump with a leap of 18-0 1/2 and second place in the triple jump with a distance of 35-5 1/4 while Volz won the triple jump with a mark of 35-8 1/2 and ranked second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.48 seconds.

Other event winners for UW-Oshkosh were Sadie Huth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.35 seconds, Cheyenne Moore in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:12.30, Taylor Pralle in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.47 seconds and Jenna Trione in the high jump with a height of 4-11. Moore's performance currently ranks second and Pralle's effort third in the NCAA Division III this season.

UW-Oshkosh owned four of the top five performers in the long jump competition. Finishing behind Marchan were second-place Lauren Wrensch with a leap of 17-11 3/4, third-place Sie'anna Mitchell with a distance of 16-10 1/2 and fifth-place Kiley Lynch-Youngman with a measurement of 15-0.

Mitchell also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.54 seconds and third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.09 seconds while Wrensch placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.01 seconds.

Other second-place results went to the Titans' Ellie Infante in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 53-4 1/4 and Olivia Seeley in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.00 seconds.

Also finishing third for the Titans were Megan Leahy in the pole vault with a height of 10-11, Katie Retzlaff in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.74 seconds and Jessica Stamn in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:29.22. 

UW-Oshkosh additionally collected a fourth-place time of 1:00.73 from Lindsay Denu and a fifth-place time of 1:02.37 from Morgan Endries in the 400-meter run.

Other Titans finishing sixth were Erica Lorenz in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:04.40, Kahley Logan in the shot put with a toss of 38-0 and Mikaela Zolecki in the 20-pound weight throw with a mark of 45-4 1/4.

The Titans' 1,600-meter relay team of Denu, Endries, Huth and Pralle finished first with a time of 4:11.18.

Running events will be converted this season as the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship will contested on a banked track at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

UW-Oshkosh is idle until Jan. 13, when it hosts a three-team meet in Kolf Sports Center.
