Brickner Earns NCAA Performer Of The Meet Award

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named UW-Oshkosh's Melanie Brickner as its Field Performer of the Meet at the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship held March 13-14 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Brickner won the 20-pound weight throw and finished sixth in the shot put to help two-time defending champion UW-Oshkosh place second in the team standings with 49 points.

Brickner defeated 16 other contestants in the 20-pound weight throw with a season-best distance of 64-1 3/4. Her first indoor national title followed All-America finishes of third in both 2013 and 2014.

Brickner also recorded a sixth-place throw of 45-10 in the shot put. The performance marked Brickner's first indoor All-America award in the event.

UW-La Crosse captured the team title with 55 points, while Illinois Wesleyan University finished third with 39 and both Massachusetts Institute of Technology and UW-Eau Claire fourth with 34.

Brickner joins former Titans Christy Cazzola (2013-14), Robyn Jarocki (2004-06), Holly Ozanich (2011) and Liz Woodworth (2004) as Performer of the Meet award winners. Jarocki and Ozanich were recognized for their performance in the field, while Cazzola and Woodworth were cited for their effort on the track.

UW-Eau Claire's Carly Fehler was selected as this year's Track Performer of the Meet.
