Klotz Named WIAC Track & Field Athlete Of The Week

The WIAC selected UW-Oshkosh's Jecel (Gerner) Klotz as one of its two Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week award winners.

Klotz received the league's top field award for meets held Jan. 12-18. Lexie Sondgeroth of UW-Whitewater was chosen as the conference's top track performer.

Klotz won the shot put and finished second in the 20-pound weight throw as UW-Oshkosh opened its season by outscoring Lawrence University and Ripon College in a triangular held Jan. 17.

Klotz marked a NCAA Division III-leading distance of 49-2 1/2 in the shot put and a measurement of 56-6 in the 20-pound weight throw.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 150 team points, while Ripon College finished second with 51 and Lawrence University third with 50.
