Cazzola Claims Third Performer Of The Meet Award

Christy Cazzola earned Track Performer of the Meet for the third time after her dominance at the WIAC Outdoor Championship on May 2-3.

Cazzola was a part of four victories, including career sweeps in the 800 and 1,500-meter runs. She posted times of 2:12.26 at 800 meters and 4:49.24 at 1,500 to win the events for the fourth straight year.

In the 5,000-meter run, Cazzola repeated as champion with a time of 17:17.38. UW-La Crosse's Laura Mead finished in second place 30 seconds behind.

Cazzola also teamed with Sonny Jenkins, Kristen Linzmeier and Kylee Verhasselt for a facility record 9:12.68 to win the 3,200-meter relay.

During the last four years, Cazzola totaled 12 indoor WIAC titles and 12 outdoor WIAC crowns.

Cazzola also won this award during 2011 and 2013. UW-Platteville's Marcia Taddy (2005-07) is the only other woman to collect three awards.

Pat Healy (UW-La Crosse) was voted WIAC Coach of the Year, while Amber Williams (UW-Platteville) received Field Performer of the Meet.
