Titans Begin Outdoor Season With Victory In Whitewater

Breanna Strupp won two throwing events to help UW-Oshkosh capture the Rex Foster Track & Field Invitational on Sunday (April 6) in Whitewater.

The Titans topped the nine-team field with 151.5 points. UW-Whitewater placed second with 145.5, while UW-Stevens Point followed in third with 144 and the University of Wisconsin took fourth with 118.

Strupp prevailed in the discus with her toss of 140-1. She also listed first in the shot put with a mark of 48-7.5, the best in NCAA Division III this season.

UW-Oshkosh owned four of the top five in the shot put, including third-place Jecel Klotz at 45-9.75. Melanie Brickner listed fourth with a 42-7 and Abby Martin came in fifth with her 42-2.

Samantha Blue was part of first, second and third-place finishes. In the 400-meter relay, she teamed with Becklyn Hunter, Ashley Holicek and Alesha Malueg for a winning time of 48.70. Blue then grabbed second in the long jump at 16-10 and third in the 100-meter dash at 12.51.

Brickner and Kasey Ederer each added one victory. Brickner posted a distance of 164-0 in the hammer throw, while Ederer cleared 5-3.75 in the high jump.

Second-place scores came from Megan Geldernick in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.06 and Amanda Shober in the triple jump at 37-3.

The Titans wrapped up their top finishes with third-place marks from Hunter in the 400-meter run (59.13) and Brooke Holloway in the high jump (4-9.75).

UW-Oshkosh will compete at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday (April 12).
