Titans Earn Second Place At Warhawk Classic

Becklyn Hunter won the 200-meter dash and ran on a winning relay as UW-Oshkosh placed second at the Warhawk Women's Track & Field Classic on Saturday (Feb. 1) in Whitewater.

The seven-team meet featured four squads nationally ranked in the top-15. The No. 4 Titans were challenged by No. 6 UW-Whitewater, No. 12 North Central College (Ill.) and No. 13 Monmouth College (Ill.).

North Central captured the title with 145 points, while UW-Oshkosh totaled 138 for second. UW-Whitewater followed in third place at 109, along with Augustana College (Ill.) fourth with 80 and Monmouth fifth with 72.

Hunter clocked a victorious time of 26.06 in the 200-meter race. She then teamed with Stephanie Jahn, Caitlyn McCormick and Elizabeth Pospyhalla to win the 800-meter relay in 1:45.77.

Other first-place finishes were provided by Melanie Brickner with her weight throw of 58-7 1/8 and Amanda Shober with her triple jump of 35-11 7/8.

Samantha Blue took second in the 60-meter dash at 7.95, while Kylee Verhasselt was the runner-up in the 800-meter race at 2:18.09.

UW-Oshkosh hosts an invitational in Kolf Sports Center on Friday (Feb. 7).
