Titans Thrash Blue Devils

The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team increased its winning streak over UW-Stout to 12 consecutive matches with Sunday's (Oct. 13) 9-0 victory at Valley Fitness & Racquet in Neenah.

UW-Oshkosh, which hadn't lost to the Blue Devils since the 2007-08 season, dominated Sunday's singles competition by earning the win in 72 of the 88 games played.

Alyssa Leffler recorded the easiest individual win for the Titans (7-3, 3-3 WIAC) with her 6-0, 6-0 victory over Annie Sandry at No. 1 singles. Leffler earlier teamed with Michelle Spicer to post an 8-2 victory over Sandry and Kylie Rennie at No. 2 doubles.

Titan Lesley Kutnink lost only one game during her 6-1, 6-0 victory over Mariah Kent at No. 5 singles while Samantha Koppa tallied a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Lauren Couves at No. 2 singles.

Other individual winners for the Titans were Kelley Hodyl in the third flight, Spicer in the fourth and Taylor Johnson in the sixth. Hodyl defeated Elizabeth Wentzel, 6-2, 6-1, while Spicer ousted Kennedy Kleist, 6-4, 6-2. Johnson was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Rennie.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining doubles victories over UW-Stout (0-10, 0-6 WIAC) were both by 8-5 scores. The Titans received wins from Hodyl and Koppa over Couves and Wentzel in the first flight and Johnson and Kutnink over Kent and Kleist in the third.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it competes at the WIAC Championship on Oct. 26-27 at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
