Titans Overwhelm Red Hawks

The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team lost only seven games during a 9-0 victory over Ripon College on Thursday (Sept. 5) in Ripon.

UW-Oshkosh (2-1) defeated Ripon College (1-1) for the 14th consecutive match by winning 72 of 75 games in singles play and 24 of 28 games in doubles activity.

Victorious by 6-0, 6-0 scores in singles action were Samantha Koppa in the second flight, Michelle Spicer in the fourth, Lesley Kutnink in the fifth and Evie Chitko in the sixth. Koppa defeated Faith Nielsen while Spicer ousted Tamera Holland. Kutnink was a winner over Weber and Chitko a victor over Madison Rostollan.

Other individual winners for the Titans were Alyssa Leffler in the first flight and Kelley Hodyl in the third. Leffler beat Hannah Ryback, 6-0, 6-2, while Hodyl outscored MacKenzie Weber, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles play, Kutnink and Taylor Johnson earned an 8-0 win over Gemma Rose Koester-Jess and Rebecca Rosen in the third flight.

The Titans took the No. 1 doubles contest as Leffler and Spicer defeated Holland and Ryback, 8-3, and the No. 2 doubles challenge as Hodyl and Koppa conquered Nielsen and Weber, 8-1.

UW-Oshkosh travels to La Crosse for matches on Saturday (Sept. 7) against UW-La Crosse and NCAA Division II Winona State University (Minn.).
