Titans Sweep WIAC Tennis Athlete Of The Week Awards

UW-Oshkosh swept the WIAC Women's Tennis Singles and Doubles Athlete of the Week awards for only the third time in school history following the performances of Alyssa Leffler and Michelle Spicer in matches held Sept. 24-30.

Leffler paired with Spicer to win their No. 2 doubles contest and later won her challenge at No. 1 singles as UW-Oshkosh defeated UW-River Falls, 8-1, on Sept. 30.

Leffler and Spicer earned their victory with an 8-3 decision over Natalie Nelson and Delanie Otto. Leffler then picked up her win second win of the match with a 6-1, 6-0 resulr over Natalie Nelson.

It was the second WIAC weekly prize for Leffler and Spicer this season. The UW-Oshkosh tandem also received a citation for their effort in matches held Sept. 3-9.

UW-Oshkosh previously swept the Women's Tennis Singles and Doubles Athlete of the Week awards during the 2011-12 (Emily Bostwick in singles and Bostwick & Lauren Piotrowski in doubles) and 2000-01 (Jennifer Pekulik in singles and Kathryn Hart and Amy Kleinschmidt in doubles) seasons.
