Titans Victorious Over Falcons

UW-Oshkosh swept all three doubles contests and coasted to an 8-1 victory over the UW-River Falls women's tennis team on Sunday (Sept. 30) at Valley Fitness & Racquet in Neenah.

The Titans (3-1, 1-1 WIAC) gained control of the Falcons (2-5, 2-1) early by winning 24 of 37 games in doubles play, including Alyssa Leffler and Michelle Spicer's 8-3 triumph over Natalie Nelson and Delanie Otto in the first flight.

UW-Oshkosh completed the sweep of the doubles contests with victories from Hannah Peters and Jenna Peterson in the second flight and Samantha Koppa and Ireland Slattery in the third. Peters and Peterson defeated Ellie Kreibich and Delaney Osmond, 8-6, while Koppa and Slattery ousted Hannah Andress and Taylor Jackson, 8-4.

Leffler later won the No. 1 singles contest with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Nelson, Koppa the No. 3 singles challenge with a 6-0, 6-1 result over Otto and Spicer the No. 4 singles test with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Karli Helland.

The Titans, who have won nine straight matches over UW-River Falls, concluded their list of individual winners with Monica Micoliczyk and Ashlee Polena. Micoliczyk defeated Kreibich, 6-3, 6-2, in the fifth flight while Polena ousted Lindsey Pennel, 6-3, 6-3, in the sixth.

Andress gave UW-River Falls its lone team point with her 6-7 (8), 6-3 (4) victory over Peters at No. 2 singles.

UW-Oshkosh hosts 11-time defending WIAC champion UW-Whitewater on Tuesday (Oct. 2) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.
