Titans Win Third Straight Match In Convincing Fashion

UW-Oshkosh greatly dominated all nine flights of play in recording a 9-0 victory over the Ripon College women's tennis team on Tuesday (Sept. 12) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.

The Titans (3-1) began the match by winning 24 of the 25 games in the three doubles flights, including 8-0 victories by Kelley Hodyl and Lesley Kutnink and Monica Micoliczyk and Ashlee Polena.

Hodyl and Kutnink defeated MacKenzie Warner and Carly Wesner in the second flight while Micoliczyk and Polena ousted Alejandras Cardenas and Genevive Hanna in the third.

UW-Oshkosh's Samantha Koppa and Bailey Sagen took the No. 1 doubles contest with their 8-1 triumph over Morgan Makar and Courtney Olson.

The Titans continued to overwhelm the Red Hawks (2-6) during the singles portion of the match as they won 72 of the 79 games. 

The big winners for the Titans were Sagen and Micoliczyk, who recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories over Olson in the first flight and Cardenas in the fifth, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh also received 6-0, 6-1 wins from Koppa in the second flight and Hannah Nauth in the sixth. Koppa trounced Makar while Nauth conquered Hanna.

UW-Oshkosh, which has won 17 of its last 21 matches against Ripon College, also obtained individual victories from Kutnink in the third flight and Hodyl in the fourth. Kutnink defeated Warner, 6-0, 6-2, while Hodyl beat Wesner, 6-1, 6-2.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Holland, Mich., for competition Friday and Saturday (Sept. 15-16) at the Hope College Invitational.
