Titans Cruise To Victory Over Sabres

UW-Oshkosh swept all three doubles contests and rolled to an 8-1 victory over the Marian University women's tennis team on Thursday (Sept. 29) in Fond du Lac.

The Titans (4-1) took control of the match early as the tandems of Hannah Peters and Bailey Sagen, Samantha Koppa and Alyssa Leffler, and Hannah Nauth and Ashlee Polena conquered their opponents.

Peters and Sagen recorded an 8-5 win over Celeste Degeneffe and Alissa Heid at No. 1 doubles, while Koppa and Leffler marked an 8-1 decision over Kristin Houle and Mackenzie Meyers at No. 2. In the third flight, Nauth and Polena tallied an 8-2 victory over Mati Kissack and Alyssa Ostrowski.

Sagen won the highest individual contest with her 6-0, 6-0 decision over Meyers at No. 1 singles.

UW-Oshkosh also had two other easy individual wins as Leffler defeated Heid, 6-1, 6-1, in the second flight and Koppa ousted Houle, 6-1, 6-0, in the fifth.

Other UW-Oshkosh winners were Annie Docter at No. 4 singles and Monica Micoliczyk at No. 5. Docter outscored Degeneffe, 6-2, 6-4, while Micoliczyk outlasted Melissa Spanbauer, 6-3, 6-4.

Marian University (4-6), which has lost its last six matches to UW-Oshkosh, earned its lone team point on Andrea Krahenbuhl's 6-1, 6-0 victory over Frances Witt at No. 3 singles.

UW-Oshkosh welcomes a visit to the Kolf Sports Center outdoor courts from Lawrence University on Sunday (Oct. 2).
