Vikings Conquer Titans

Elizabeth Larson, Jennifer Roesch and Christina Schaupp were victorious in both singles and doubles play as the Lawrence University women's tennis team defeated UW-Oshkosh, 6-3, on Wednesday (Sept. 14) in Appleton.

Larson recorded a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 win over Emily Bostwick (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) at No. 1 singles and teamed with Roesch to post an 8-5 triumph over Bostwick and Lauren Piotrowski (So. • Greendale) at No. 1 doubles. Roesch added a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Preslee Nolte (Fr. • Warren, N.J.) at No. 2 singles.

Schaupp earned her two victories by defeating Brianna Theobald (So. • Manitowoc), 6-4, 7-5, at No. 4 singles and uniting with Hannah Geoffrey to oust Theobald and Megan Etten (So. • Howard), 8-6, at No. 3 doubles.

UW-Oshkosh (2-1) picked up two of its three victories in singles play as Piotrowski tallied a 6-3, 6-3 win over Geoffrey in the fifth flight and Valerie Langkau (So. • Oshkosh) marked a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Polly Dalton in the sixth.

The Titans' remaining victory came at No. 2 doubles, where Nolte and Morgan Counts (So. • Oshkosh) edged Dalton and Carla Schmidt, 8-6.

Lawrence University (7-0), which defeated UW-Oshkosh for just the third time in 18 matches, also had Gayatri Malhotra notch a 6-4, 7-5 win over Theobald at No. 4 singles.

UW-Oshkosh kicks off its home schedule with a match against Carroll University on Saturday (Sept. 17) at the Kolf Sports Complex.
