Morgan Counts (So. • Oshkosh), Valerie Langkau (So. • Oshkosh) and Erica Van Riper (Fr. • Waukesha) won their singles contests in straight sets as the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team defeated UW-Stevens Point, 9-0, on Saturday (April 14) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.

Counts posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Katelyn Presti at No. 3 singles, while Langkau tallied a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Allison Fortier at No. 5 singles. The UW-Oshkosh tandem then worked together to notch an 8-2 win over Presti and Molly Hendries at No. 3 doubles.

Van Riper was impressive as she marked a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kristen Finstad at No. 6 singles.

Three Titans won a tiebreaker after splitting their two singles sets. Emily Bostwick (Sr. • Whitefish Bay) earned a 6-3, 4-6 (10-7) victory over Rachel Brown at No. 1 singles, while Preslee Nolte (Fr. • Warren, N.J.) recorded a 2-6, 6-2 (10-4) win over Taylor Weuve at No. 2 singles. In the fourth singles flight, Megan Etten (So. • Howard) battled for a 4-6, 6-3 (10-7) triumph over Monica Preisig.

In doubles action, UW-Oshkosh picked up its remaining victories from Bostwick and Lauren Piotrowski (So. • Greendale) in the first flight and Etten and Nolte in the second. Bostwick and Piotrowski defeated Brown and Weuve, 8-2, while Etten and Nolte ousted Fortier and Preisig, 8-6.

UW-Stevens Point falls to 2-10 with the loss.

UW-Oshkosh (8-8) returns to the court to face UW-Eau Claire (14-5) in the WIAC Team Tournament on April 28 in Whitewater. The Titans' second match of the event will be against UW-La Crosse (16-3) or UW-Whitewater (16-4). The winner of the four-team competition receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
