Titans Pick Up Win Over Pioneers
Brianna Smith and Ella Thibert won two individual events apiece as the UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team outscored Carroll University, 119-109, Saturday (Oct. 30) in Albee Hall.
UW-Oshkosh won seven of the meet's 13 events and totaled 23 top-four finishes overall.
Smith swam to first-place freestyle times of 5:56.05 at 500 yards and 12:11.92 at 1,000 while assisting Emma Hall, Francesca Schiro and Cadence Showalter to a winning performance of 3:55.42 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Thibert earned her two wins in the diving, totaling 184.27 points off the 1-meter board and 192.60 off the 3-meter plank.
Showalter also won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.68 and Morgan Beckett the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:42.30.
Schiro and Allie Wucak accounted for four of UW-Oshkosh's seven second-place listings. Schiro posted runner-up freestyle times of 25.94 seconds at 50 yards and 55.93 seconds at 100 while Wucak tallied second-place diving points of 168.45 in the 1-meter category and 165.22 in the 3-meter division.
The Titans additionally had second-place times of 2:11.50 in the 200-yard freestyle by Hall and 2:22.10 in the 200-yard backstroke from Grace Fergus.
UW-Oshkosh's 400-yard medley relay team of Beckett, Fergus, Moriah Drabenstadt and Corrina Winkler also finished second with their time of 4:26.22.
Emelia Smith recorded a pair of third-place scores in the diving with her 148.12 points off the 1- and 130.57 off the 3-meter boards.
UW-Oshkosh also acquired third-place times of 2:25.41 in the 200-yard individual medley from Fergus, 2:28.60 in the 200-yard backstroke from Hall, 59.12 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle from Showalter and 2:43.22 in the 200-yard butterfly from Olivia Davis.
UW-Oshkosh's top-four mentions finished with the fourth-place times of 2:27.62 in the 200-yard individual medley by Beckett, 2:46.15 in the 200-yard butterfly by Winkler and 3:01.94 in the 200-yard breaststroke by Ava Marx.
The Titans host UW-Whitewater for a dual meet next Saturday (Nov. 6) in Albee Hall.
