Titans Win Five Events, Place Third At Gene Davis Invitational

Mariah Marowsky won three events in contributing to UW Oshkosh's third-place finish at the Lawrence University Gene Davis Women's Swimming & Diving Invitational held Saturday (Nov. 16) in Appleton.

Marowsky won freestyle races with her times of 54.34 seconds at 100 yards, 1:57.73 at 200 and 5:18.21 at 500. She also swam with Hannah Cunningham, Rachel Jaworski, and Tessa Shorten for a second-place time of 3:51.54 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

UW-Oshkosh also received victories from Rebecca Birriel and Alyssa Hassel.

Birriel won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:42.94 while finishing third in the 400-yard individual medley at 5:11.12. She also joined Hassel, Sydney Challoner and Jennifer Lutz for a third-place time of 2:01.45 in the 200-yard medley relay.

Hassel won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.06 while adding a third-place swim of 2:49.24 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

In addition to her finish in the 200-yard medley relay, Challoner placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.83 and fourth in both the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard butterfly with times of 2:23.18 and 2:21.00, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh's other fourth-place results belonged to Cunningham in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.77 seconds, Lutz in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:05.60 and Danielle Tesky in the 1-meter diving with a score of 332.60.

The Titans' five fifth-place finishes included times of 2:23.44 in the 200-yard backstroke and 2:27.03 in the 200-yard butterfly by Lutz. Other fifth-place results went to Tesky in the 3-meter diving with a score of 307.80, Paige Betthauser in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 20:54.00 and Tessa Shorten in the 200-yard freestyle with a swim of 2:08.84.

Placing sixth for UW-Oshkosh were Cunningham in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.80 and Lexi Gray in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a performance of 21:01.47.

UW-Oshkosh finished third among the six competing teams with 552 points. Lake Forest College (Ill.) captured the team title with 600 points while Carroll University placed second with 562 and Lawrence University fourth with 462.

The Titans are off until they compete at the three-day Carthage College Classic on Dec. 5-7 in Kenosha.
