Titans Win Triangular With Green Knights, Buccaneers

A pair of victories from both Sydney Challoner and Lexi Gray helped the UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team defeat Beloit and St. Norbert colleges in a triangular held Saturday (Jan. 12) in Beloit.

UW-Oshkosh scored 106 points and won eight events overall. St. Norbert College finished second to the Titans with 59 points and Beloit College third with 39.

Challoner won the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard butterfly with times of 1:12.98 and 1:01.97, respectively. She also assisted Rebecca Birriel, Alyssa Hassel and Jennifer Lutz in recording a first-place time of 4:20.45 in the 400-yard medley relay.

Gray earned her victories with freestyle times of 5:59.25 at 500 yards and 20:17.05 at 1,650.

Rachel Jaworski and Alexandra Schuster were involved in UW-Oshkosh's remaining three victories.

Jaworski won the 200-yard freestyle with a performance of 2:08.80 and Schuster the 50-yard freestyle with an effort of 26.35 seconds. They also teamed with Hannah Cunningham and Tessa Shorten for a winning time of 3:54.84 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Lutz owned two of UW-Oshkosh's third-place finishes with her times of 1:03.02 in the 100-yard butterfly and 1:05.02 in the 100-yard backstroke. Schuster marked a time of 57.86 seconds as the runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle.

UW-Oshkosh's five third-place finishes included a pair by both Birriel and Cunningham. Birriel recorded times of 1:16.43 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:24.57 in the 200-yard individual medley while Cunningham achieved freestyle times of 58.10 seconds at 100 yards and 2:10.17 at 200.

Shorten, who also finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.01 seconds, placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a swim of 26.80 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh's other fourth-place performances belonged to Jaworski in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.78 and Emma Wilcher in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:11.72.

Hassel rounded out the Titans' scoring positions with her fifth-place times of 1:19.20 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:32.04 in the 200-yard individual medley.

UW-Oshkosh was also represented by diver Johnna Seelman at Saturday's Luther College Invitational in Decorah, Iowa.

Seelman finished fifth in the 3-meter diving with 246.10 points and sixth in the 1-meter diving with 277.60.

UW-Oshkosh competes against seven-time WIAC champion UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Jan. 19) in La Crosse.
