Titans Lose Decision To Pointers

UW-Stevens Point won 12 of 13 events to defeat UW-Oshkosh, 158-74, in a women's swimming & diving meet held Friday (Dec. 7) in Stevens Point.

Sydney Challoner earned UW-Oshkosh's lone event victory with her swim of 1:11.83 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Challoner also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.52.

Titans Jennifer Lutz and Johnna Seelman both recorded a pair of second-place finishes. Lutz swam to times of 1:05.45 in the 100-yard backstroke and 2:06.84 in the 200-yard freestyle while Seelman totaled 162.85 points in the 1- and 165.30 points in the 3-meter diving.

UW-Oshkosh also had Lexi Gray in the 500-yard freestyle and Alexandra Schuster in the 100-yard freestyle finish second with times of 5:54.65 and 58.60 seconds, respectively.

Four Titans achieved third-place finishes as Brianna Beseler posted a time of 6:06.38 in the 500-yard freestyle, Rebecca Birriel a time of 1:17.12 in the 100-yard breaststroke, Rachel Jaworski a time of 1:08.46 in the 100-yard backstroke and Tessa Shorten a time of 1:00.23 in the 100-yard freestyle.

UW-Oshkosh's fourth-place listings belonged to Gray with a time of 12:12.63 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, Schuster with a performance of 26.83 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, Hannah Cunningham with an effort of 1:00.38 in the 100-yard freestyle and Josie Ruckdashel with a swim of 1:17.92 in the 100-yard backstroke.

In the relays, UW-Oshkosh finished second in the 200-yard freestyle and third in the 200-yard medley with times of 1:51.70 and 1:59.35, respectively. Members of the 200-yard freestyle relay were Birriel, Gray, Jaworski and Schuster while participants in the 200-yard medley relay were Challoner, Cunningham, Lutz and Schuster.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts Lawrence University on Jan. 5 in Albee Hall.
