Titans Win Seven Events In Loss To Pointers

Titans McKinzie Halkola and Tessa Shorten won two events apiece during UW-Oshkosh's 129-113 women's swimming & diving loss to UW-Stevens Point on Friday (Dec. 8) in Albee Hall.

Halkola swam to victory in both the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle with times of 1:03.01 and 2:02.77, respectively.

Shorten earned her first-place finishes by recording times of 26.23 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 56.30 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.

Halkola and Shorten also joined teammates Sydney Challoner and Jennifer Lutz in posting a winning time of 1:55.97 in the 200-yard medley relay.

UW-Oshkosh also received winning performances from Lutz and Cortney Claypool. Lutz won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.92 while Claypool took first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:54.21.

Challoner had two of UW-Oshkosh's four second-place finishes after swimming to times of 1:12.71 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:22.23 in the 200-yard individual medley.

Other second-place efforts for the Titans went to Elizabeth Kelly in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:12.96 and Gabrielle Kraus in the 1-meter diving with a score of 249.15.

Six different Titans finished third, including four in the freestyle category. Alison Panske recorded a time of 58.25 seconds at 100 yards while Lutz went 2:07.38 at 200 yards, Kelly 6:02.86 at 500 and Lexi Gray 12:27.59 at 1,000.

Other third-place results went to UW-Oshkosh's Rebecca Birriel in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:24.79 and Johnna Seelman in the 3-meter diving with a score of 158.60.

Swimming to fourth-place listings were Birriel in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.54, Claypool in the 100-yard backstroke with a performance of 1:09.91 and Brianna Beseler in the 500-yard freestyle with an effort of 6:09.54.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it competes at Lawrence University on Jan. 6.
