Kraus To Dive At NCAA Regional

UW-Oshkosh's Gabrielle Kraus will participate at the NCAA Division III Women's Central Region Diving Championship this weekend in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Competition begins Friday (Feb. 24) off the 1-meter board and concludes Saturday (Feb. 25) off the 3-meter plank from Calvin College's Venema Aquatic Center.

Kraus, a sophomore, qualified for the regional meet for the second straight season. Last year, she finished 13th in the 3- and 20th in the 1-meter categories.

This year's Central Region Diving Championship features 21 contestants in the 1-meter division and 20 in the 3-meter section.

Kraus is among seven entrants from Wisconsin, with the others being UW-La Crosse's Kayley Alioto, Caroline Holverson and Rebekka Reineke; UW-Stevens Point's Jackie Braun; UW-Eau Claire's Bailei Hughes; and Carthage College's Zoe Rodriguez.

The top returning competitors from last year's regional are Calvin College's Sarah Bradley, who placed third off the 1-meter board, Alioto, who finished fourth at 3 meters, and Kalamazoo College's (Mich.) Madeline Woods, who ranked fifth at 3 meters. All three divers were among the seven that advanced from the meet to the NCAA Division III Championship.

This past weekend (Feb. 16-18) at the WIAC Swimming & Diving Championship in Brown Deer, Kraus finished fifth on both the 1- and 3-meter boards with scores of 411.15 and 404.20, respectively.
