Titans Conclude Home Schedule With Win Over Red Hawks

Sydney Challoner, McKinzie Halkola and Taylor Teske won two events apiece during UW-Oshkosh's 116-86 women's swimming & diving victory over Ripon College on Saturday (Feb. 4) in Albee Hall.

Challoner won the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:23.14 and 2:39.62, respectively, while Halkola captured first place in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles with times of 2:02.72 and 5:30.22, respectively.

Teske secured her victories with times of 25.87 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 2:14.27 in the 100-yard backstroke.

UW-Oshkosh's other individual winner was Cortney Claypool, who defeated her opponents in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:49.47.

The Titans won both relays against the Red Hawks, including the 200-yard medley where Challoner, Halkola, Teske and Alison Panske registered a winning time of 1:56.14.

UW-Oshkosh also used the swims of Claypool, Brianna Beseler, Davi Ruckdashel and Beth Sanderfoot to post a winning time of 1:52.79 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Panske tallied two of UW-Oshkosh's three second-place finishes by recording times of 58.66 seconds in the 100- and 2:09.45 in the 200-yard freestyles. The Titans' Emma Wilcher added a second-place swim of 2:35.02 in the 200-yard butterfly.

UW-Oshkosh had five different third-place finishers, including Sanderfoot and Beseler who marked times of 1:00.49 in the 100- and 12:29.64 in the 1,000-yard freestyles.

The Titans' other third-place times were 2:23.12 by Claypool in the 200-yard backstroke, 2:39.95 by Wilcher in the 200-yard individual medley and 2:42.10 by Teagan Murphy in the 200-yard butterfly.

Colleen Barnstable and Johnna Seelman, who did not compete against Ripon College, represented UW-Oshkosh on Saturday at the University of Illinois-Chicago Diving Invitational.

Off the 3-meter board, Barnstable finished 12th with 181.45 points and Seelman 21st with 111.75 points. In the 1-meter competition, Barnstable placed 14th with 175.45 points and Seelman 23rd with 112.55.

Madeline Kuhn from the University of Illinois won the 1-meter diving with 266.90 points while Katy Knight from the University of Illinois-Chicago finished first in the 3-meter diving with 249.30. Both event winners were from NCAA Division I schools. 

UW-Oshkosh is off until it competes at the WIAC Championship on Feb. 16-18 at the Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer. The Titans placed fifth at last year's championship with 284 points.
