Vikings Rally In Last Event To Tie Titans

Lawrence University outscored the UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team, 13-4, in the 13th and final event to earn a 115-115 tie with the Titans on Saturday (Jan. 7) in Albee Hall.

The Vikings created the stalemate by finishing first and third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with times of 1:49.64 and 1:58.91, respectively. UW-Oshkosh placed second in the meet's final event as Brianna Beseler, Cortney Claypool, Davi Ruckdashel and Beth Sanderfoot swam to a time of 1:53.69.

UW-Oshkosh's Gabrielle Kraus dove to a pair of first-place finishes against Lawrence University and qualified in the 1-meter diving for the NCAA Division III Central Region Diving Championship that will be held Feb. 25-26 in Grand Rapids, Mich. Kraus posted winning scores of 258.15 off the 1-meter board and 252.90 off the 3-meter plank.

Taylor Teske was also a multiple winner for the Titans. She won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke with times of 25.65 seconds and 1:00.82, respectively.

The Titans' McKinzie Halkola recorded a winning time of 2:03.19 in the 200-yard freestyle while placing second in the 500-yard freestyle with an effort of 5:32.76.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining victory occurred in the 200-yard medley relay, where the quartet of Halkola, Teske, Sydney Challoner and Alison Panske swam to a time of 1:55.80.

Challoner, Panske and Colleen Barnstable all tallied a pair of second-place finishes. Challoner swam to times of 1:04.82 in the 100-yard butterfly and 1:13.82 in the 100-yard breaststroke while Panske registered performances of 26.66 seconds in the 50- and 58.06 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle events. Barnstable marked scores of 229.35 in the 1- and 205.50 in the 3-meter diving.

The Titans' Claypool finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 12:16.09 and 1:07.32, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh's third-place listings also included Beseler's time of 12:39.29 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, Johanna Seelman's 139.20 points in the 1-meter diving and Emma Wilcher's time of 2:36.55 in the 200-yard individual medley.

Next Saturday (Jan. 14), UW-Oshkosh sends its divers to the Luther College (Iowa) Invitational and its swimmers to Beloit College for dual meet.
