Pioneers Rally To Tie Titans

Carroll University won the last of 13 events to earn a 119-119 tie with the UW-Oshkosh women's swimming & diving team on Saturday (Oct. 29) in Albee Hall.

The Pioneers created the tie with their victory of nearly eight seconds over the Titans in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the meet's final event.

UW-Oshkosh took first place in eight events as Sydney Challoner, McKinzie Halkola, Gabrielle Kraus and Taylor Teske each recorded two individual victories.

Challoner won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.52 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:24.39 while Halkola won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races in 2:07.20 and 5:38.37, respectively.

Kraus captured both diving events with scores of 240.80 points off the 1-meter board and 239.35 off the 3-meter plank. Teske won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.90 seconds and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.63.

Colleen Barnstable contributed a pair of second-place results with her scores of 200.15 in the 1-meter diving and 216.15 in the 3-meter diving.

UW-Oshkosh placed second in both relays, including the 400-yard medley, where Challoner, Halkola, Teske and Baylee Dallman swam to a time of 4:19.13.

The Titans' 200-yard freestyle relay group of Cortney Claypool, Elizabeth Kelly, Davi Ruckdashel and Elizebeth Sanderfoot took the runner-up position with their time of 1:53.60.

Carroll University won three individual events, all by different swimmers, and both relays.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts UW-Whitewater on Nov. 12 in Albee Hall.
