Titans Paced By Teske's Swims At Wisconsin College Showcase
Taylor Teske owned three of UW-Oshkosh's 14 top 24 finishes at the Wisconsin College Women's Swimming & Diving Showcase held Saturday (Oct. 22) in Brown Deer.
The non-scoring event, which opened the 2016-17 season for the Titans, featured participants from nine Wisconsin collegiate programs, including NCAA Division I members UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee and UW-Oshkosh's conference rivals UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater.
Teske recorded UW-Oshkosh's highest finish with her sixth-place swim of 1:00.31 in the 100-yard backstroke. She also ranked 15th in the 50-yard freestyle and 17th in the 200-yard backstroke with times of 25.76 seconds and 2:19.35, respectively.
Gabrielle Kraus contributed a pair of top nine finishes with her seventh-place score of 207.45 points off 1-meter board and ninth-place sum of 217.35 points off the 3-meter plank.
Colleen Barnstable also competed in the diving for UW-Oshkosh and placed 11th in the 3-meter division with 185.60 points and 13th in the 1-meter category with 171.40 points.
UW-Oshkosh had two other swimmers place in the top 24 in multiple events, including McKinzie Halkola who finished 11th in the 200- and 16th in the 100-yard backstroke events with times of 2:13.96 and 1:03.57, respectively. The Titans' Sydnee Challoner ranked 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.69 and 21st in the 200-yard individual medley with an effort of 2:25.90.
UW-Oshkosh's Courtney Claypool finished 19th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:56.06 while Janelle Sharpee placed 21st and Brianna Beseler 24th in the same event with performances of 6:10.24 and 6:22.68, respectively.
UW-Oshkosh hosts Carroll University on Saturday (Oct. 29) in Albee Hall.
